Letters from our missionary in the Czech/Slovak Mission

Christ-maš ?

Ahoj!

I hope that you all had a fabulous week, full of wonderful memories:) My
first Christmas away from home, made my heart full of gratitude. I am SO
thankful for all the many blessings that we have. We have so many reasons
to rejoice and being able to celebrate Christ’s birth was amazing.

Sestra Andersen and I had a fun filled week. We went to Prague and had
training with two zones. Before all that started we met on the sqaure in
down town Prague and did a singing display. 40 missionaries singing Czech
Christmas carols. It was so loud, so powerful, so strong, I knowt that the
spirit was present. It started with one person slowing to watch, and the
next time I looked up there was a huge crowd. It warmed my heart and
brought a smile to my face. Listening to us speaking another language, in
which others could hear our testimonies of Jesus Christ. In that moment, it
really struck me. I am so blessed to be serving here in the Czech Republic,
they deserve to know of His love, and when I testify, a blanket of peace
comes over me and it brings so much joy to both myself and my Heavenly
Father.

Another super fun thing that our district got to do was the night before
Christmas Eve, we went to a home for mothers and their children. We sang
them Christmas songs! It was a little sad walking in there, many of the
children just had frowns and the mothers were trying to be cheerful. When
we wakled up to the front and began singing, even though I did not have all
the words memorized I tried to look up as much as I could and see how many
people I could get to smile. It was such a wonderful experience seeing the
spirit touch each of them. When we finished one of the girls came up and
said hello to me, and I went over and asked what a few of their names were.
This simple act of service that we were able to do, has forever changed me.
I loved the stories of Christ being with the children. I know that he loved
them so much, and right now I get the chance to love the people in the
Czech Republic for him. Such a blessing to me.

Christmas was amazing. Had a fun filled day with laughs, joy, and love. So
many other things happened but there is just not enough room to say.

I hope that you all were able to take the time to appreciate the many
blessings that you have, and that you will take the time to reflect on this
year and make goals for the next! 2017 is right around the corner! Get
ready! It is going to be awesome! I can feel it!

I am switching it up a little fort the scripture, and jumping to Doctrine
and Covenants 6:14. It is a beautiful verse about inquiring.
I have a testimony of prayer and I was able to share it countless times
this last week with people that I contacted. I know that when we ask with a
loving desiring heart, we can receive.

The title of the email is a mix of english and czech. Christ and maš in
Czech means you have. My companion came up with this clever word. It is
supposed to mean do you have Christ? I think this is a great question to
ask ourselves. Every day there is something we can do to feel his love and
show him ours:)

S laskou,

Sestra Miller

Merry Christmas, sweet Autumn! Your letters carry the Spirit in them. It’s a joy to hear about your mission experiences. I kinda smiled when I read how you sang on the streets and spoke of sharing your feelings about the gospel. Grandma Thorne used to tell of the ‘street meetings’ they did while serving her mission in Virginia. They weren’t spontaneous. They were expected to speak extemporaneously in small groups. She loved her mission but I think she would have loved 40 missionaries gathering like that! It does sound powerful!
    Have a Happy New Year!
    Love, Aunt Maralyn
