Hey y’all, I hope you guys had a great week! It’s been a pretty crazy week here. We had our first in person Zone Conference in over a year, interviews with President, my first dog attack!
I’ll just knock out each event for y’all, so on Tuesday we got a call from the APs that we just got the thumbs up for our first in person Zone Conference so because my mission is the 2nd largest mission in the world, everyone from is 15-3 hour bus ride to get to Antofagasta! Luckily for me I’m still in Antofagasta so no traveling for me!
The night before we got a knock at our door and it was one of my good friends Elder Laforce and his comp! So that was great talking to him and seeing how his been doing. Then, like an hour later, we get a knock at our door and there are like 14 Elders! So that was a super loud and crazy night but we all made it through and had Zone Conference the next morning!
Any opportunity I get to see President and Hermana Larsen it’s always so great! Before they walked in we all stood up and President told us that he wants us all to line up in rows and for all the Elders, President would give a huge bear hug and for the Hermanas, Hermana Larsen would give them a hug! You can really tell how much they love and care about each of us!
Zone Conference was really great, we talked alot about how important our purpose as missionaries really is in God’s work! That was a pretty much all day thing! The next day we had meetings with president again so I got to be with president alot this week!
Now, on to the dog attack! So my area is at the very top of Antofagasta so it’s one of the poorest areas in the mission…so that means, a ton of dogs! So we’re going to this lady’s house named Patricia and about 40 yards in front of us is this big, mean, black dog. Usually the dogs are pretty chill because they see so many people all the time but we could both tell this one was going to be different! My comp whispers in my ear “En la cuenta de tres corremos” on the count of three we run! So he books it into the back of a parked truck bed and I tried to run right past but the dog knew what I was going to do so it ran over to me and bit a huge hole in my pants! Right on the side of my leg but I did get a pretty swift kick right in its muzzle. Honestly tho it was a huge miracle because it gave my comp time to grab a hand full of rocks and scare it away! But the craziest and most amazing part of the whole thing was the dogs teeth didn’t penetrate or rip though my garments! Really just opened my eyes on how much they really do protect! Well that was all alot but I hope you guys had a great week!
I’ll talk to y’all soon!-Elder Ehrhart
