Lighting our Flames

Ahoj rondiný a komradí!

I cannot believe that I have been in the country for almost a two full
weeks! It is absolutely amazing. One of the best things about missionary
work is that you get to forget yourself and focus on loving others. It is
so nice to just give service all the time. You constantly just have such a
full heart and get to make others happy, I do not know how it could get
much better than that:)

On Tuesdays we teach English classes, and oh my goodness it is just my
favorite thing to do! It is so fun seeing these Czechs try so hard to
pronounce and understand our words and sentence structures. I got so happy
when they would make out sentences, like “I like go to park, I like swim, I
like blue”. It was just a great way for me to visualize how I am coming off
to people. It is so exciting to just see people try, that is really all
that matters, and for the most part it makes sense and you just get so
happy that they are communicating with you:) So that really humbled me.

We went on quite the adventure trying to go to a members little vacation
home for dinner. They were visiting from Australia! We took a bus but went
in the competely opposite direction! Had someone drive us back to the bus
stop, then the dad drove and picked us up, took us home for dinner, and
then drove us all the way back! It was so nice of them! They were lovely,
and their kids made fun of my accent. It was so nice to be in a home with a
family where the spirit was so strong. It is amazing how much happiness
comes from serving and having the gospel in your life..

One of my favorite lessons that we had this week was with a super cute
member in our branch. She is 95 years old! She is just the sweetest. She
has such great faith, and does not look a day over 80. She is amazing and I
had a great time bearing my testimony to her.

Some of the things that I learned this week was how much the Lord does for
me. He has blessed me every day, even during the hard days, there are still
blessings that I can pick out. I encourage you to just do a little
gratitude check each day, and you will realize how much good there really
is! Then you can thank our Heavenly Father for it:)

When we are being good examples, doing things for others, looking for the
good in each day, we are lighting our flames. We need to be that light that
others can follow and look to when they may be far from it.

I love the scripture 1 Nephi 10:18. Our God is the same yesterday, today,
and forever. Come unto Him!

Love Love Love

Ahoj everyone!

Can I just tell you how much I love the Czech Republic? And even more so, how much I love the people here! They are all just so amazing. Every little thing. I just love being a missionary.

The people here have such a great history behind them, and they all have been through so so much. They have hearts of gold and such sweet spirits.

One of the things that I have been thinking about a lot this week is how lucky and thankful I am to be walking with Christ by my side. For those of you who do not know, every day I get to put my name tag on. The coolest part about this, is that every day I have Christ’s name on my chest. I get to do my best to represent Him and share the joy that comes through His gospel with others:) So even if you do not have a nametag, just try to take advantage of every opportunity that you have to help others come closer to Christ.

Fun little sidenote, my companion and I were walking home late one night, and were crossing the road and then we hear this huge HONK and are almost hit by an ambulence! So yeah, that was cool. Yeah mom I am okay;) I have not jumped that high in a long time though.
One afternoon we were also having a really good comp talk. We were along the river and sharing our testimonies about how God knows our potential and making the most of every moment that we have:) Super sweet tender moment right? Then this short, little, old, dark red haired, leapord pants slippers, lady, walks behind us and stops. *Rips it* Oh my goodness, we looked at eachother and after maybe about 3 seconds we just lost it. I laughed so hard tears came out of my eyes. So yes that was a very very great moment that I will never ever forget.

Okay, now I just wanted to end real quick with a scripture that I think is just so great! It is in 1 Nephi 4:6. I started the Book of Mormon over this week, and I love this short simple verse. It just talks about being led by the Spirit and be faithful and trustful. I know that as we seek the spirit and to do good, we will be blessed beyond measure!

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Seeing the Good

Ahoj!!

Man time passes weird when you are on a mission, but boy of boy do I love
it! It is starting to go oh so fast!

Something that I really loved and saw throughout this week is that “We may
not see all the good that God does”. We are blessed so so much by our
heavenly father and half the time we may not even recognize it! Every day
there are so many blessings that we have. I have been able to see this in
my time in this beautiful country. Each day is new and different, and the
sun shines, well except for today, it was a little rainy;)

This week we got to work with a lot of less actives in the church and then
with the members in our super sweet little branch. The Czech people are
just amazing, and fun fact, they LOVE banana bread. They do not have it
here, so we made some on Sunday and delivered it to a couple of families
and they were SO HAPPY! It is so fun making people happy, and even better
cause it just makes this domino effect of pure happiness and then everyone
wants to do good! It is just so great:)

We also had a man just walk into our church building and ask to be taught.
So that was pretty cool. He is actually from Germany though, so we will be
referring him to the missionaries over there:)

I love the scripture Moroni 8:3, it talks about giving mindful prayers to
God and that He is infinite goodness. This is just so comforting to me. We
can all have such wonderful relationships with Him. He loves us so so much
and wants us to have faith in Him, when we do, we will see wonders!!!

I love you all!

Have a fabulous week!

Tender Mercies

Ahoj!

Tento tyden byl skvěla!

Man I just love being on the Lord’s errand:) I hit my ONE MONTH mark in
Country!

This week we did a lot of things, but I will tell you just a few
highlights:) So it literally went to super HOT to freaking COLD! Oh my
goodness, and it has been raining and raining. But the rain does not stop
me! Haha, I am a Washingtonian, its a part of me;)
We had an awesome group contacting with our elders in the pouring rain near
one of the city centers. Two of us dide a singing display while the other
two contacted, and then switched. As I was walking around with my umbrella,
I was getting a little nervous. But then I saw this super sweet looking
young lady struggeling with her umbrella, it had flown inside out. I
immediately had the impression to go talk to her. I told her who I was, and
ask her why families were important to her. We had a nice little
conversation, and I told her about the message that I had: families can be
together forever. She said that would be great, but she was not interested
in learning more right now. I was not catching every word she said, and she
could tell. I told her that I was learning Czech (and seriously that is
like sunbeams and goldfish) her eyes lit up and she got so happy! She told
me that I was doing so good and kept talking with me and helping me. Asking
me about my mission, where I was from, my family. It was so great. That was
a little tender mercy that God gave me that day. He knew that I needed to
talk with her, smile, and laugh, get a little boost. She was in my path for
a reason and the seed has been planted!:)

We also had a man that we met a few weeks ago, TEXT US! He asked to meet
with us that night. It was absolutely amazing. We shared about our
families, got to know eachother, asked him about what he wanted to learn
and dove into the restoration. It was so cool. When we asked him why he
chose to meet with us, he said you know I have been asking myself that same
question, but he just felt that he needed to. I am so excited to see what
comes from this:)

We also got to watch General Conference this weekend. Man was it WONDERFUL.
It is amazing that we have a living prophet and apostles on this earth
today. It is also so amazing of the revelation that they receive that can
literally touch every person’s heart.

I loved Elder Russel M. Nelson’s talk on JOY. If you did not get a chance
to hear it, please look it up. He talks about that “Men are here that they
might have joy- CHRIST IS JOY”.

I love the scripture 1 Nephi 22:25. It talks about how He gathers His
children and how He knows us, He numbers His sheep, and He is our ONE
SHEPHERD.

Mam vas rada!

Its a Ooo Its a Ahh

Ahoj!!

Its an ooo its an ah, is something I used to say when I watched fireworks
for the first time as a little girl. They scared me so bad, but once I
peeked my eyes, and had my parents with me, I realized the beauty in them.
This can be applied perfectly to missionary work! Sometimes it can be a
little scary, but really once you tkae the time to try and look through
Christ’s eyes it is the most amazing experience that you will ever have!
This week was definitely many ooo’s and ahhs.

In one of our lessons with a really sweet member, who was recently less
active. We were bearing our testimonies about how we can feel comfort
through our Savior and the blessings that the gospel brings. Afterwards she
told us that when she is with us she feels safe, she feels the spirit, and
she feels like she is talking with God. That was such a loving moment for
me. We are sent here for a reason, and I stand as a representative of
Christ. It is all because of Him, and he has the greatest love for each and
everyone of us.
I kinda ruined the moment after our prayer, and broke her chair… but hey
I fixed it!

I got splashed by my first car, late at night, in the freezing cold. That
was fun. Hahah even stinkin’things like that can make me look at all the
good I am given. Just staying positive!

Elder Holland said that every door knocked and every doorbell rung in the
Czech Republic is a baptism in Chili! We were so excited;) we tried sharing
with 87:)

Oh my goodness so we had “Culture Night”which is 4 hours set aside to go
tour somewhere or really just experience the country and city. So we went
over to Třebon. It was so fun! I loved being able to really take it all in.
I live in Europe. I am serving the Czech people. They are truly amazing. I
love them to peices more and more each day. I am so lucky to be here. And I
am so blessed by my Heavenly Father, to see all the beauty through His
eyes.

I also tried tatarak. RAW MEAT! ICK!

Analogy: Golden cookies. We were making cookies for members on Sunday and I
kept on accidentally overing baking them just a tiny bit. But the Lord’s
timing is truly perfect. Because I c cooked those cookies a little longer,
we got to all the places we did in those exact moments of time. And because
we walked this way and that and through the park I saw a man. I felt drawn
to him. I wanted to talk to him. I went straight up to him and shared about
families. His name translates to Mr. Purple in English:) He is the sweetest
old man ever and he wants to meet! I LOVE how perfectly the Lord makes
everything fall into place.

Please look up 2 Nephi 7:11. It talks about kindle fire, let your light
glow, and have His hand.

I hope you all have a fab week!
